Enjoy panoramic views of the Front Range and heal a local area deeply impacted by the 2013 flood! In the aftermath of the flood, millions of tamarisk seedlings germinated, which pose a major threat to the watershed should they mature. Volunteers will continue work from 2016 & 2017, removing tamarisk through hand pulling, weed wrenching, and cut & stump treatment with herbicide.
Notes: Our project is located on St Vrain Creek, just east of the Boulder/Weld County line, where the Sept 2013 flood breached several lakes and carved a new channel.
Tamarisk (aka Salt Cedar) has devastated watersheds throughout the west, costing billions of dollars in lost habitat, lost water, and lost electricity.
