|O nas||The official page for our Diocese of Bridgeport pilgrimage to World Youth Day. Page on hiatus until early 2017!|
World Youth Day (WYD) is an international event organized by the Catholic Church, uniting young Catholics from all over the World, as well as other denominations of faith. The event is presided by our Holy Father, Pope Francis, and it occurs every three years.
WYD began in 1984, on Palm Sunday. Pope John Paul II asked youth from all over the world to come to Rome to celebrate the Year of Redemption. They responded with great enthusiasm, surprising all expectations. In 1985, the Pope wrote a letter to all the youth of the world and later that year he officially initiate the World Youth Day.
This Day is an incentive for young people of the Church to share and celebrate their faith, while meditating on the message the Pope chooses for each meeting.
The celebration of the XXVIII World Youth Day will be held in Krakow, Poland’s second-largest city (and the Archdiocese where Karol Wojtyla (St. John Paul II) was Archbishop!), in August 2016.
Join the youth of every race and nation! Give yourself the opportunity to dream in a new world full of peace and unity and be apart of the Church of the new millennium, a Church that is alive!
Join together with thousands of youth from across the globe to live this experience of faith! Come and see how the youth of Poland live their faith and how they share their faith and culture with the rest of the youth around the world!
You have to be from age 16-35 to be able to go on this trip. ( by July 22, 2016)
