|Sobre nós||I help clients break down self-imposed psychological barriers, become more resilient, more entrepreneurial and disruptive and perform at the highest level.|
I’m passionate about applied psychology, research and performance.
I have always been fascinated by what makes people tick, the power of relationships, real or imagined, to motivate, hinder or discourage, and how we cling to our psychological baggage even though its serves no positive purpose. My thirst to ‘know’ resulted in a BSc., an MPhil, and then a PhD in psychology. My first ‘real’ job was as a research fellow at a mental health unit in Aberdeen, Scotland and it seemed I was destined for a career in academia. My opportunity to trade ‘knowing’ for ‘experience’ came when I was hired to lead a multidisciplinary team of doctors, psychologists, physiologists and anthrompometrists at the Institute of Child Health (ICH) in London, the medical school for Great Ormond Street Hospital. For 14-years my team looked at the physical and psychological resilience of elite young athletes. At first my peers at ICH thought we were nuts – why invest so much money researching super healthy kids? They were saying the same thing about the founder of resilience, Norman Garmezy; why on earth look into why kids survive and thrive in situations of chronic adversity? Like Garmezy we bucked the research trend and our work contributed to an understanding of why and how children become resilient (tip #1, sports families were more cohesive and adaptable; tip #2 parents, don’t label young people gifted when they are not).
I decided to make the leap from academia to industry when I was invited to work with the Leadership team of Microsoft UK. It was to be the start of a career I could never have imagined 21 years ago. To my list of passions I had added technology. As a post-grad I’d become fascinated by the first GUI Macintosh, Sinclair ZX, Commodore 64 and Atari 520, and working with Microsoft prior to the launch of Windows 95, was a seminal experience for me. I’ve worked with clients from the finance sector and the automotive industry but technology is where I feel most at home and where I
