Sobre nós DIVAfest is a celebration of female power and creativity.
DIVAfest cover
Missão DIVAfest is a community of artists and arts lovers working to raise visibility and increase opportunity for women in creative fields. We strive to engage diverse artists and audiences with eclectic programing in theatre, dance, burlesque, music, visual art, crafts, and symposia inspired by women. We empower female artists to claim agency in their own work, to project and amplify their voices into national dialogue, and to inhabit a future of liberty, equality, and sorority.
Descrição DIVAfest is a celebration of female power and creativity. We believe that creativity creates community and that community is a catalyst for positive change. We believe that artists are cultural leaders who can revolutionize perception and self-perception of women everywhere. We believe that active support of female artists is a vital counterbalance to the male perspective in both classic and contemporary art. We believe that a commitment to a diversity of disciplines, artists, and audiences can create a cycle of inspiration feeding back to the art form, the individual, and the community.

“We dream about what will happen as more and more women artists gain the resources they need to express their creativity fully. We are convinced that they will change the world.”
- Martha Richards, WomenArts Founder & Executive Director

My idea of feminism is self-determination, and it’s very open-ended: every woman has the right to become herself, and do whatever she needs to do.
- Ani DiFranco

Feminist art is not some tiny creek running off the great river of real art. It is not some crack in an otherwise flawless stone. It is, quite spectacularly I think, art which is not based on the subjugation of one half of the species. It is art which will take the great human themes –love, death, heroism, suffering, history itself –and render them fully human.
