APANO’s Fight for Immigrant Rights: What campaign message do we need to respond to this political moment?

GOALS

Analyze and redefine political messages around immigrant rights

Identify and develop effective and persuasive political messages (that hold true to our values) in the fight for immigrant rights in Oregon

Envision what an Immigrant Rights/Anti-White Supremacy field plan could look like for APANO

Description: Each month, APANO holds Member Meetings as a continued part of a series to build community, and explore concepts of political power and social justice. Dinner will be served! For March 2018, At APANO, we’re trying to build a campaign, based around our values, to fight for immigrant rights. At our February meeting, we identified that the opposition (almost always) has the same racist messages and assumptions! So what is our counteracting narrative that is effective, persuasive and holds true to our values? This meeting is a jumping off point to analyze existing “pro-immigrant” narratives and inform APANO’s values-based campaign for 2018.

** Please note this is specifically for Asian and Pacific Islander identifying folks. Allies interested in supporting our work are encouraged to join in advocacy days with our partners or engage in other volunteer opportunities.
