#var:page_name# cover

Even before the devastation of Hurricane Maria unveiled the broken and oppressive economic systems of Puerto Rico, communities were already searching and practicing new solutions for community development and co-op models. This talk will center around new models and practices that have only amplified in the aftermath of Maria and how these have activated throughout the island to birth an age of Just Recovery/Transition.

Sofia Unanue and Alexandra Llegues, founders of women-led, participatory design and planning non-profit La Maraña, will facilitate an interactive discussion about their models for community design and building on the island and the Rebuild Comerio Project. The Defend Puerto Rico transmedia project will also share a preview screening from their recent visits to Puerto Rico.
