Understanding Trauma through the Lens of Cultural Competency Yoga Teacher Training

This 16-hour yoga teacher training highlights not only the benefits of reducing unconscious bias, but also the improvements that can be gained by striving to eliminate bias. This collaborative effort will broadly cover aspects of complex trauma with its basic understanding, along with how to work with and approach affected populations through cultural diversity and competence.

The dynamics of diversity are changing at a rapid rate and our initiatives toward the service of inclusion and competency will continue to struggle until we, as individuals, accept that we all have biases and that unconscious bias is a normal component of our psychological nature. By exploring how these unconscious biases shape our beliefs that form our thoughts, and ultimately our unconscious actions, we can begin to discover how to be present and adjust our body language, expression and voice, in order to attend the complexities of trauma. Imagine Yoga and Wellness Center, 3120 Belair Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715. Saturday and Sunday, 4/15 and 4/16, from 9am to 6pm. Phone: 443- 510-6308.
