The Boston Dance Company, was founded in 1992 by James Reardon and Clyde Nantais. With the vision of offering high quality dance, in Greater Boston. BDC has grown into a prominent respected arts troupe, particularly engaging the underserved communities.
To reconstruct lost masterpieces, continuing to commission works of aspiring choreographers and to particularly bring high quality dance education and performances to the underserved areas of Massachusetts.
The company dances many styles of dance. Our focus in ballet is the philosophy of 20th century speed, attack and rythm. We also emphasize a professional track for upcoming students in all dance styles including modern, dance fusion, jazz, and promote our school with many summer performances in collabraation with the Office of Cultural Affairs and the Office of New Bostonians, appointed by Mayor Menino and Chief Officer, Armando Silva
Boston Dance Company has been selected as the only ballet company to perform with the Massachusetts Dance Festival. James Reardon has been cited by the Boston Herald as one of the finest teachers in Boston. Clyde Nantais has received nemerous awards as best choreographer by the Dance Masters of America and other educational organizations.
We produce dancers of all levels. Some choose to persue their dance career, some choose to do the college route with dance as a major, and many persue professional degreews at Harvard/MIT/Northeastern in numerous different careers - but keep dancing as professionals with the company. Located between Harvard & MIT has been one of the most beneficial for our school and company
