This class is intended for both home stitchers and fashion design students. Over the course of this class, you will create a reference binder of sewn mock-ups representing different techniques used in garment making. We will dissect garments and talk about why certain techniques cost more than others to produce. Seam finishes, hems, neckline finishes, bias facing, bias binding, darts, casings, cuffs, zippers, elastic applications, pockets, plackets, collars, and pleats are some of the things that will be covered. This is a good way to build a portfolio for a job interview and may help students design with better details in mind.

Juki industrial straight stitch machines will be provided to use in class, but if you do not know how to use an industrial machine, you may rent/bring a home sewing machine.
