Foothills is offering a small group experience for women who have been affected by sexual intimidation, abuse, or violence within a safe structured environment lead by an experienced facilitator. Surrounded by others committed to understanding and mirroring empathy and compassion, women can break the silence encompassing all forms of sexual abuse by giving voice to their personal and shared experiences. Almost every woman has at some point in her life been subjected to a sexual violation or emotional manipulation which betrayed her trust in others and damaged her sense of self and safety. Gathering together we can challenge the feelings of isolation, self-blame, and humiliation by sharing our experiences and listening carefully to those of others so we may recognize the integrity and strengths of our own personal survival and deepen our ability to trust in ourselves and others. Please join us for this further engagement exploring the stories and meanings of the #Me Too experience for the women of the UU community.

The groups will be facilitated by Taya King an experienced psychotherapist who has specialized in the field of sexual abuse and trauma for over thirty years. She was trained as a psychoanalytic clinical psychologist and has practiced in California, New Mexico, and Colorado with individuals, families, and groups. She has worked as a therapist, consultant, supervisor, and victim’s advocate for many years within the court systems, public schools, and numerous community organizations. She currently resides in Loveland with her partner and maintains a part-time private practice.
