We are committed to using our experience-based knowledge and expertise in art and puppetry towards overall social and personal development.
We accomplish this by promoting the use of various art activities, working with hands and mind, to develop human relations and national integration in society in a non-political use of media to discover the strength within us, inherent creative abilities.
We use puppetry as a means of mass communication, by preparing and giving live performances for audiences in all walks of life including under-privileged and handicapped children.
We extend our professional support to all those who are interested. We reach out to children, adults, teachers and community workers through art and puppetry, by conducting workshops and training programs.
We help motivate, inform, educate and entertain on subjects relevant to science (with special reference to nutrition, preservation of the environment), adult education, literacy ,and other present day issues facing society.
We are committed to reviving the traditional art of puppetry in a simplified approach for the community worker. We extend the scope for interaction with the dominant target audience helping in social mobilization aimed at bringing about a social awakening, thus creating an alternate system emphasizing sustainability.
We work towards a further understanding of the medium by doing research and if necessary undergoing training –thus creating a knowledge bank.
The Nori Art & Puppetry Centre (NAPC) is a Hyderabad-based voluntary organization registered under the Society’s act. It was formed with the intent of integrating art with science and social communication through puppetry.
Our vision is “reaching out and making a difference through art”. Art is as essential to mankind as science. Art is as much utility as it is creative and can be integrated with science, stimulating both adults and children, helping them to overcome the barriers of conventional thinking. Art can encourage creativity and promote talent both in children and adults.
Puppetry, an integrated approach to all the arts, both visual and performing, brings art to life and makes communication fun. It helps liberate the personality of children and adults through self-expression using a variety of art media and puppetry.
