Orenburg State Medical University

Established in 1944 as Chkalov State Medical Institute. It was renamed to Orenburg State Medical Institute in 1957 (at that time Orenburg city regained its original name after being named Chkalov from 1937 till 1957). Gained status of academy in 1994.

History of Medical Faculty goes back in 1944 ,with the foundation of Chkalov (Orenburg) Medical Institute. Last 69 years have changed the name and structure of the (academy), but the medical faculty has always remained the leading branch of the Academy. It Prepares students in the specialty "General Medicine” and Faculty annually produces over two hundred newly trained specialists for the Russian health care.

During 6 years of training, the students will learn an extensive program of 54 subjects in medical faculty and Training takes place in 47 departments of the faculty and courses in which more than 300 professors, associate professors and Doctors teaches student
Basics of the human body and the functioning of the body, The basics of Pathology etc.
Faculty students perceive in the walls of the three theoretical buildings of Academy, familiarise with the disease, and the first steps in the treatment of patients at the largest hospital in the city and the region. Here students get their first medical experience and learn the achievements of modern medicine.
From the first year students of medical faculty are actively engaged in research work in student scientific circles.And the result of this mass phenomenon - student participation in academic work, from the first years, is the fact that almost all groups of departments staffed with graduates of our academy and at the end, the most gifted students of the Academy, continue to improve their knowledge in the clinical internship and Post Graduate departments of the Academy.
Graduates of our faculty are not only practitioners, but also scientists in fundamental areas of science: biochemistry, microbiology, physiology, pharmacology, etc.
